Join us to celebrate this new exhibit where there will be introductory remarks by the new Museum Director, Isabella Quartiere, after-hours access to the museum, a rare opportunity to be the first to view newly acquired artifacts, and a reception with light refreshments.
This new display expands our current John Brown exhibit, bringing new artifacts and stories into the spotlight, including never-before-seen artifacts connected to the men responsible for guarding John Brown during his final days. Highlights include an original pre-War letter written by Turner Ashby, along with a rare 1859 ruby ambrotype of one of Ashby’s Mountain Rangers, photographed during his time as a guard at John Brown’s execution. These new acquisitions help us to learn more about this key moment in Jefferson County history through a new perspective.
