Adult Programming Opportunities at the Library
Do you have a hobby, skill, or special interest you’d like to share with others? The Library is looking for volunteers to share their passion and help expand our adult programming!
Libraries are more than places to borrow books. They are gathering spaces where neighbors learn from one another, explore new interests, and build community connections. We know that our community is filled with talented people, and we’d love to help showcase those talents.
We’re seeking volunteers interested in leading or assisting with adult programs such as:
- Gardening and landscaping
- Local history and genealogy
- Arts and crafts
- Photography
- Knitting, crocheting, and quilting
- Book discussions
- Technology tips and smartphone basics
- Health and wellness topics
- Financial literacy
- Travel presentations
- Hobbies and collections
- Any other topic you’re passionate about
You do not need to be a professional speaker or teacher. If you enjoy a subject and would like to share it with others, we would be happy to talk with you about planning a program.
Programs may be presented as a one-time workshop, a demonstration, a discussion group, or an ongoing club. Library staff will assist with scheduling, promotion, and room arrangements.
Volunteering is a wonderful way to give back to the community, meet new people, and help lifelong learning thrive.

Collection Management Opportunities at the Library
Do you enjoy working in a quiet, welcoming environment and helping your community? The library is seeking adult volunteers to assist with keeping our collections organized and accessible for all patrons.
Volunteer tasks may include:
- Reshelving returned materials
- Shelf reading to ensure items are in proper order
- Straightening and organizing library shelves
- Assisting with other collection-related tasks as needed
Flexible hours are available, making it easy to fit volunteering into your schedule. Whether you can give a few hours every week, or just once a month, your time and effort will make a real difference.

Teen Volunteer Opportunities at the Library
Looking for a meaningful way to earn community service hours? The library is seeking responsible high school volunteers to help on Saturday mornings in our Children’s Department.
Volunteer duties may include:
- Shelf reading to ensure books are in the correct order
- Straightening and organizing shelves
- Keeping the children’s area neat and welcoming
- Assisting with other library tasks as needed during volunteer shifts
This is a great opportunity to support your community, gain experience, and fulfill school community service expectations.

Museum Front Desk Volunteer Opportunities
The Jefferson County Museum is seeking outgoing, dependable volunteers to staff the front desk. Hours are flexible. The museum is open Tuesdays through Fridays, from 10-4, and on Saturdays, from 9-1. Front desk volunteer tasks include welcoming visitors, selling admission tickets and merchandise, and answering the museum phone.
