Job Title: Part-Time Summer Children’s Assistant

Location: Charles Town Library, 200 E. Washington Street, Charles Town, WV 25414

Position Summary: We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative Part-Time Summer Children’s Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will focus on developing and delivering engaging programs for children aged 6 to 13, with a special emphasis on early learning. This role involves fostering a love of reading, exploration, and learning in a fun and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

·  Facilitate hands-on workshops that encourage creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

·  Promote library resources, services, and activities tailored to the interests and needs of the target age group.

·  Build partnerships with parents.

·  Maintain a welcoming and safe environment for children, ensuring compliance with library policies.

·  Assist children and their families with finding and selecting age-appropriate books and materials.

Qualifications:

·  Passion for working with children and fostering their curiosity and love for learning.

·  Background in education, library science, or a related field is preferred.

·  Knowledge of STEAM concepts and experience designing interactive activities for children.

·  Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

·  Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

·  Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.

Hours & Compensation:

This is a part-time, temporary summer position. Must be able to work afternoons, evenings, and some weekends. Exact hours and compensation will be discussed during the interview process.
