Four authors, one book: Thoughts & Prayers

When Lily Jeong—smothered by her parents and ignored by classmates—unwittingly aids her boyfriend in a school shooting, she struggles to hide her complicity from investigators. Forced to face the devastated survivors, she hides in plain sight as their grief turns to vengeance.

According to Education Week, there have been 16 school shootings this year, 75 since 2018. The COVID-19 pandemic appears to have interrupted the trend line. The 2020 figure, with 10 shootings, was significantly lower than 2019, with 25 shootings and 2018 with 24.

Beyond those statistics there are people whose lives are changed forever. Four local authors, writing under one name, have written a book that explores the impacts suffered by an event that has unfortunately become all too common.

Thoughts & Prayers, a novel being published under the name Lee Anne Post, is the product of hours of collaborative creativity by authors, Ginny Fite, K.P. Robbins, Catharine Baldau and Tara Bell. It tells the story of a young girl’s unwitting role in a disastrous school shooting and her attempts to evade the resulting investigation.

The authors will participate in a Zoom presentation sponsored by the library on September 22, at 7:00 p.m. in anticipation of the October release of the book by Milford House, an imprint of Sunbury Press.
