It’s back! The Charles Town Library Adult Reading Challenge II

The challenge runs from December 21 to March 20 – the first day of Winter to the first day of Spring, to coincide with the season’s beginning and end.

We’ve upped the ante this time to SIX books. Be sure check our catalog for available titles and sign in to hoopladigital.com as well for titles available as ebooks and audiobooks. You will need to have a Charles Town Library card in good standing to sign up for hoopla.

Your entry sheet for the Adult Reading Challenge II – Download and print

In each of the six levels, read a book with ONE of the following traits for a total of six books to complete the challenge:

LEVEL 1:

  1. A book with the color white on the cover 
  2. A book with the word “cold” in the title
  3. A book that takes place in a typically cold climate, i.e. Canada, Alaska, Scandinavia, Northern U.S., etc…
  4. A book that takes place around a winter holiday celebration such as Christmas, Valentine’s Day, etc

LEVEL 2:

  1. A book that involves a winter sport, i.e. skiing, ice skating, sledding, etc…
  2. A book that has the word “ICE” anywhere in the title (it would be NICE to get creative with that one!)
  3. A book with a fireplace on the cover
  4. A book with a character named Jack

LEVEL 3:

  1. A book with the color green on the cover 
  2. A book featuring an old man
  3. A book with the word “winter” in the title (Charles Town Library has 268 adult titles!)
  4. A book by a Scandinavian author 

LEVEL 4:

  1. A book with the word “snow” in the title (Charles Town Library has 153 adult titles!)
  2. A book about a tropical vacation/cruise
  3. A book with the color blue on the cover
  4. A work of dystopian fiction

LEVEL 5:

  1. A book about survival 
  2. A science fiction book
  3. A book with the color red on the cover
  4. A cozy mystery book

LEVEL 6:

  1. A book set in Florida
  2. A book with the color black on the cover
  3. A book with a beverage on the cover
  4. A book with flames on the cover
