STORYTELLING CONTEST AT THE CHARLES TOWN LIBRARY

DURING WEST VIRGINIA FEST, 1:00 P.M., 17 JUNE 2017

Do you have a story to tell about an event, person, or place in Jefferson County? Do you love spinning yarns? Then the Charles Town Library’s Storytelling Contest is for you. Held at 1:00 p.m. during Charles Town’s WV Fest on the front porch of the library, it is a wonderful opportunity for showcasing the storytelling talents in the County. The first prize winner will receive a trophy and bragging rights. 2nd and 3rd place winners will also be recognized.

Storytelling Contest Rules

To enter the contest, either call the library at 304-725-2208 or send an email to librarian@ctlibrary.org. Tell us your name and provide a title for your story. The first 5 entries will receive a Charles Town Library Book Bag, designed especially for the 2017 WVFest, at the end of the contest.

The 5-minute (or less) story should be an original work, family friendly, with no profanity and focus on a place, event, or historical figure from Jefferson County (preferably) or West Virginia. No scripts allowed.

The story will be judged on content and performance. Each storyteller will have 5 minutes (plus a 1 minute grace period) to tell a story. If the storyteller goes over 6 minutes, 1 full point is deducted from the total score. A warning timer will ring at 5 minutes.
